Victory Over Expos Takes Provo to 57-36
|
The Provo Mango beat the Niagara Falls Expos, 6-3, at Waterfall Park. The Mango got a fine performance from left fielder Steve Murdock, who captured player of the game honors. He went 2 for 3 with a home run and 2 walks, while scoring 3 times. Robin Colcord, who went 6 innings, was the winning pitcher. He was charged with 3 runs on 7 hits, while walking 2 and striking out 6. His record now stands at 9-5. The current losing streak for Niagara Falls has reached 4 games.
The Expos had been locked in a 2-2 tie with the Mango going into the top of the fourth inning. That changed quickly when the 20-year old second baseman Kian Hook came to the plate. Hook hit a 2-run single on a 3-1 fastball from Niagara Falls hurler Bruno Zoido. It was Hook's 67th hit of the year.
"We've got guys willing to do what it takes to win," Murdock told the Provo Observer.
