Arryns Rally For Late Win Over Hawks
|
The Arryns faced a stiff challenge from Laredo pitcher Clint Kirk, but persevered to claim a win at Hawks Field. The final score was 4-2. Kirk went 6 innings and allowed 2 earned runs. The winner was Don Murray in relief. His record improves to 5-3. Mike Park took the loss. Earning his 30th save of the year was Jimmy Whitney.
Lake Erie used the timely hitting of Scot Roberts to seize the win. The left fielder stroked a run-scoring single in the top of the ninth inning to put the Arryns on top, 3-2. It was his only hit in 4 at-bats, but it was a game-changer.
"We put together a nice win," Roberts said.
The Arryns have an impressive 59-33 record.
