Loss to Arryns Extends Washington Losing Streak
|
Lake Erie and Washington duked it out at Arryns Ballpark and the Arryns came out victorious.
The Lake Erie Arryns picked up a win at Arryns Ballpark, knocking off the Washington Generals, 4-1. Starting pitcher Patrick Smythe played a key role in the triumph. Smythe got the win, improving to 6-7. He allowed 7 hits and walked 3 over 7 innings. Smythe allowed 1 earned run. Jimmy Whitney earned his 28th save in 29 tries.
The Arryns got a big at-bat from third baseman Patrick Mildren. For the game, Mildren went 3 for 4 with 3 singles. He drove in 2 runs and scored once. In the bottom of the fourth, with runners on 2nd and 3rd, he stroked a 2-run single. His 81st hit of the season gave Lake Erie a 2-0 lead.
"This was a good win for us," said Mildren. "It's one more step toward our ultimate goal."
The 8th-place Generals have dropped 10 straight games.
