Vandals Drop Arryns with Late Score
The inspired effort of Lake Erie catcher Wang Gai was not enough to prevent a 7-6 loss to the Eugene Vandals. Gai went 3-5 with a triple and 2 singles, while adding 2 RBI and scoring once. César Bravo, credited with the win, is now 2-2. He allowed no runs on 2 hits in 3.1 innings. The Vandals sit in last place in the Silver A with a record of 15-66.

Eugene used the timely hitting of John Yossarian to seize the win. The center fielder stroked a run-scoring single in the top of the eighth inning to put the Vandals on top, 7-6. It was his only hit in 5 at-bats, but it was a game-changer.

Vandals manager Roger Sánchez wasn't all too pleased, despite the win, telling reporters that the performance highlighted some clear areas for improvement moving forward. He refused to be more specific, however. "I'm not gonna publicize our weaknesses," he said. "That stuff stays in the clubhouse."
