|
Caldwell pitcher Vasile Alexandrescu did his part in helping his team beat the Washington Generals, 4-3. The left-hander kept opposing batters in check throughout the game. Alexandrescu, now 3-4, was the winner. In 6.1 innings, he gave up 6 hits, while striking out 8, walking 3, and allowing 2 earned runs. The first-place Chiefs have won 5 in a row.
Caldwell used a timely hit from Shing Li to get the win. The designated hitter delivered a 2-run triple in the top of the fourth inning to put the Chiefs on top, 3-2. It was his only hit in 4 at-bats, but it was a game-changer.
"We played hard and won," said Alexandrescu. "Sometimes, baseball really is that easy.'
