Hawks Win at Washington, 4-1
|
The Laredo Hawks picked up a win at Washington Park, knocking off the Washington Generals, 4-1. Starting pitcher Jesús Ríos, who captured player of the game honors, was a big reason why. Pablo Sánchez nailed down his 5th save. Laredo is now riding a 3-game win streak.
Laredo used the timely hitting of Doug Chapman to seize the win. The center fielder stroked a run-scoring single in the top of the seventh inning to put the Hawks on top, 2-1. It was his only hit in 4 at-bats, but it was a game-changer.
"I had pretty good command out there," said Ríos.
