Hawks Edge Past Generals, 6-5
|
The Laredo Hawks picked up a win at Washington Park, knocking off the Washington Generals, 6-5. On the mound for Laredo was right-hander Ed Alexander, who played a pivotal role in the win. The win puts the Hawks at 38-35, while the Generals drop to 35-38.
Laredo took a 6-5 lead on Paul Pitts's 9th triple of the season. The run-scoring triple, which Pitts hit in the top of the tenth, left Washington pitcher John McNeill visibly frustrated.
"It all depends on which version of our team shows up," said Pitts. "When we put it all together, I think we're a great team."
