Generals Squelch Expos Offense in Shutout Win
The Washington Generals got a good effort from starter Kent Martin in defeating the Niagara Falls Expos at Waterfall Park. The final score was 5-0. Martin, the winner, moves to 5-0. He threw 7.1 innings of 4-hit ball, while fanning 3 and giving up 2 walks. Washington now sits in 7th place in the Silver A at 34-37.

Washington used the timely hitting of Igme Padoga to seize the win. The center fielder stroked a run-scoring single in the top of the seventh inning to put the Generals on top, 1-0. It was his only hit in 4 at-bats, but it was a game-changer.

"I don't feel you win baseball games by working harder than the other team or 'wanting it more,'" Padoga told the Washington News. "You win just by scoring more runs."
