Caldwell Chiefs starter Driscoll Craft turned in a sterling performance against the Provo Mango, leading his team to a slim 2-1 win. The win was Sakutaro Matsumoto's in relief. His record improves to 1-0. Kip Mosley took the loss for Provo. Juan Colón finished the game for Caldwell and earned his 2nd save.
A crucial at-bat came with runners on 1st and 2nd and two out in the top of the fourth inning. That's when third baseman Elias den Blick, who is tied for 3rd in the SA in RBI with 46, drew a walk. The Chiefs went on to win.
"The old adage is true," said Craft. "Good pitching stops good hitting."
The winning streak has now reached 4 games for Caldwell.
