In baseball, each game is unique. This one was no different.

Washington beat Syracuse on the strength of starter Klaus de Lijser's fine effort. The left-hander led his team to a 9-3 win. At 32-35, the Generals find themselves in 7th place in the Silver A.

Washington used the timely hitting of Félix Olvera to seize the win. The left fielder stroked a 2-run single in the top of the fourth inning to put the Generals on top, 5-2. It was his only hit in 3 at-bats, but it was a game-changer.

"Good baseball players make you a smarter manager," said Washington manager Desmond Woodford.
