Victory Pushes Silver Sox Record to 6-6
|
The Chicago Silver Sox topped the Greenville 84s, 7-4, with center fielder Loring Rommel playing a big role. Rommel went 2 for 4 with a home run and a double. He scored 2 runs and drove in 3 for the Silver Sox in the win. Stanford McCain earned the win to go to 2-1. He allowed 4 earned runs on 3 hits, with 2 walks and 10 strikeouts. The win lifts Chicago to a record of 6-6.
Melvin Thomas was 1-4 with a double for Chicago. In the bottom of the third, with the teams deadlocked, 3-3, Thomas delivered for the Silver Sox. His run-scoring ground out put Chicago on top, 4-3.
"We were able to get some things going offensively," said Rommel.
