Generals Lose, 6-3, at Smokies Stadium
|
The Tennessee Smokies topped the Washington Generals by the score of 6-3, with the largest share of the credit going to right fielder Joël Pesci. Pesci went 2 for 4 with a home run. He scored 2 runs and drove in 4 for the Smokies. José Stanley, credited with the save, is now 10 for 12 in save opportunities. The 9th-place Smokies have won 4 in a row.
Pesci contributed a big hit, a grand slam home run, for Tennessee in the bottom of the second. With his team trailing 2-1, Pesci took a fastball from Ralph Johnston and stroked the home run to left. His 3rd home run of the season allowed the Smokies to leap in front, 5-2.
"It's always a heck of a lot easier to get to sleep after a win," Pesci told the Tennessee Observer. "I know I'll rest easy tonight."
