Mockingbirds Win, Hope to Turn Around Slow Start
The Mississippi Mockingbirds got a stellar effort from pitcher Carlos Vargas, helping Mississippi score a 6-2 win over the visiting Buffalo White Walkers. The winning pitcher was Vargas, now 1-0. He tossed 7 innings of 5-hit ball, while walking 4 and fanning 5. Nam Yee Yong recorded his 1st save for Mississippi.

Bobby Butterfield, the Mississippi right fielder, contributed a run-scoring triple in the bottom of the second inning to make the score 2-0, Mockingbirds. For the game, Butterfield went 2 for 3 with a triple.

"It's a mindset," said Vargas. "Just trying to do your job, trying to be consistent."

Mississippi is still hoping to get on a roll. The win is just their 2nd in 6 games.
