White Walkers Lose to Mockingbirds, 3-2
|
The Buffalo White Walkers got a superb performance from pitcher Gerald Orlebar. Still, it wasn't enough to beat Mississippi. The Mockingbirds won the game, 3-2. In spite of the loss, Orlebar was named the player of the game. He threw 8 innings allowing 3 runs. Gertjan van Hulst earned the win to go to 1-0. He allowed 2 earned runs on 9 hits, with 1 walk and 4 strikeouts. Folkert van Huizen earned the save for Mississippi, his 1st.
Rylen Roersma went 1-3 with a double for Mississippi. The 23-year old second baseman had a key at-bat in the bottom of the sixth. With one out and the bases loaded, he broke a 2-2 tie with a run-scoring sacrifice fly off Gerald Orlebar. It was his 4th RBI of the season.
"We need to string a few more wins like this one together," said Roersma.
The White Walkers, now 2-3, have been pitiful so far.
