Expos Beat Hawks in 10
|
The Laredo Hawks got a superb performance from pitcher John Gordon. Still, it wasn't enough to beat Niagara Falls. The Expos won the game, 6-4. In spite of the loss, Gordon was named the player of the game. He threw 6 innings of 5-hit ball. The winner was Von Hansen in relief. His record improves to 2-0. Jim Stephenson took the loss. The Expos are now 21-24, while the Hawks fall to 19-26.
Niagara Falls used the timely hitting of Steve Womack to capture the win. The pinch hitter stroked a 2-run double in the top of the tenth inning to put the Expos on top, 6-4. It was his only hit in 1 at-bat, but he made it count.
"We'll grab a cold one tonight and go after another win tomorrow," Womack said.
