Coeur Subdue Phoenix, 5-3
|
The St. Louis Coeur topped the Phoenix Hotspur, 5-3, in United States Silver League action at The BFIB. The player of the game was St. Louis pitcher and Wilmington Island, Georgia native Arturo Gramer. T.J. Juckson was called on to finish, recording his 1st save. The Coeur, now 4-0, have hit the ground running this season.
The game was at a stalemate until center fielder Jur Prokop came to bat in the bottom of the eighth. Facing Phoenix pitcher Rust Cohle, he hit a first pitch cutter for a run-scoring single. It was a game-changer, putting St. Louis on top, 4-3.
"The vibe's good," said St. Louis manager Scott McMahon. "We've got to keep it going."
