Chiefs Prevail, 5-3, Over Washington
|
The Caldwell Chiefs picked up a win at Pipers Ballpark, knocking off the Washington Generals, 5-3. Starting pitcher Driscoll Craft was an essential part of his team's success. Craft, now 4-3, was the winner. In 8 innings, he gave up 3 hits, while striking out 5, walking 1, and allowing 2 earned runs. Picking up the save was Vasile Alexandrescu, his 11th.
Caldwell took a 4-1 lead on Yoshihito Kichikawa's 10th hit of the season. The 2-run single, which Kichikawa hit in the bottom of the seventh, left Washington pitcher Rob Joseph shaking his head.
"We've got a great group of guys," Kichikawa said, "and we're having fun right now."
Caldwell has a 3-game win streak, while Washington has lost 3 in a row.
