Kovacs Helps Expos Run Win Streak to 3
|
The Niagara Falls Expos beat the Provo Mango, 7-5, at Mango Yard. The win was largely due to the efforts of center fielder Takeshi Kovacs, who captured player of the game honors. He was 4 for 4 with a home run and 2 doubles, while scoring 3 times and driving in 2. Calvin Bryant earned the win to go to 1-0. He allowed 5 earned runs on 8 hits, with no walks and 3 strikeouts. With the win over Provo, the Expos improved to 15-22.
Early in the game, Kovacs had a 2-run home run for Niagara Falls. It was his 3rd home run of the season and put the Expos on top, 5-3.
"Enjoyed this one," Kovacs told the Niagara Falls Bulletin. "But it's back to work tomorrow."
