Expos Score Late to Upend Generals, 4-3
|
Washington pitcher Kent Martin gave the Expos all they could handle, but in the end, Niagara Falls left Washington Park with a 4-3 win. Martin allowed 1 earned run on 3 hits over 7 innings. The save was credited to Mike Gibson, his 4th. With the win, the Expos have a record of 11-18.
Niagara Falls used the timely hitting of Juan Mireles to seize the win. The left fielder stroked a 2-run single in the top of the eighth inning to put the Expos on top, 4-3. It was his only hit in 4 at-bats, but it was a game-changer.
"We squandered some opportunities," said Washington manager Desmond Woodford.
