Chiefs Paste Vandals, 17-0
|
A 3-RBI performance from Miguel Contreras, who is tied for 9th in the SA in bases on balls with 14, helped the Caldwell Chiefs beat the Eugene Vandals, 17-0. Lloyd Stinson got the win, improving to 3-2. He held the Vandals to no earned runs on 1 hit over 7.1 innings, while striking out 10 and walking 2. Eugene has now lost 9 in a row.
With Caldwell leading 9-0 in the bottom of the fifth, Contreras came up to bat against Eugene pitcher Dale Keith. Contreras hit a fastball to right for a bases-clearing triple. His 3rd triple of the season put the Chiefs on top, 12-0.
"It was a solid team effort," said Contreras after the game.
