Evergreens Come Back Late to Clip Patriots
|
The Portland Evergreens defeated the Boston Patriots, 6-4, at Dunkin Donuts Park. Portland third baseman Billy Dotson was named player of the game for his superb performance. He was 3 for 4 with a home run and 2 singles, while scoring 2 runs. It was the 7th win in 11 games this year for the defending champion Evergreens, who are picking up where they left off.
Portland used the timely hitting of Armando Rodríguez to seize the win. The pinch hitter stroked a run-scoring single in the top of the ninth inning to put the Evergreens on top, 5-4. It was his only hit in 1 at-bat, but it was a game-changer.
Rodríguez told a Portland Herald reporter that he was "satisfied" with the win.
