Smokies Subdue Caldwell, 3-2
|
Smokies Stadium was the site of an exciting ballgame between the Tennessee Smokies and the Caldwell Chiefs.
Tennessee right-hander Toshinobu Nakamura helped his team edge Caldwell by the score of 3-2. Nakamura kept the opposing lineup in check. Today's win puts Tennessee at 10-11, while Caldwell falls to 13-8.
Had Roy Osmond not delivered a key base hit in the bottom of the seventh, the outcome might have been different. Instead, with two down and a runner on 2nd, Osmond hit a run-scoring double. That made the score 3-2, in favor of the Smokies.
"I like the grit of this ballclub," Nakamura said.
