It was a fun time at The Riot Zone, where the Syracuse Storm and Eugene Vandals tangled.

The Syracuse Storm wasted an inspired, 8-inning effort from starter Rubén López, falling 2-1 to the Eugene Vandals at The Riot Zone. The Vandals, with only their 4th win in 19 games, have not had much to write home about in 2038.

Jorge Mejía found himself in a pressure situation in the bottom of the eighth. Facing Syracuse hurler Rubén López, the 19-year-old center fielder hit a sacrifice fly. His 3rd RBI of the season put the Vandals on top, 2-1.

"I tell our guys all the time, 'Every pitch is the right pitch if you put it in the right place, you believe in it and have conviction,'" Eugene manager Roger Sánchez said.
