Northern Lions BC, Padilla Pin Bad Loss on White Walkers
|
The Thunder Bay Northern Lions BC kicked off the 2038 season with a decisive 11-2 win over the Buffalo White Walkers at Great Northern Field. Thunder Bay shortstop Ramón Padilla was already in midseason form. He was 2-4 with a home run, a triple, and a walk. He scored 3 times and drove in 4. Jesús Vidro got the win, improving to 1-0. He pitched 8.1 innings, giving up 5 hits and 2 runs, while striking out 10 and walking 1.
Padilla came through with some timely hitting for Thunder Bay. With the score 2-1 in the bottom of the third and no one down, Padilla hit a full count fastball for a run-scoring triple. His 1st triple of the season made it 3-1, Thunder Bay.
"We'll relax tonight and get back after it tomorrow," Padilla said after the game.
