The Northern Virginia Rainbow Mermaids defeated the Boston Patriots, 2-1, in United States Premier League action at Dunkin Donuts Park, with Northern Virginia pitcher Ricardo García named player of the game. Brewster Warble picked up the win in relief, improving his record to 6-2. Leo Ingelbrigtsen was tagged with the loss. The Rainbow Mermaids have now won 4 straight.
Northern Virginia used the timely hitting of Tural Bishara to seize the win. The left fielder stroked a run-scoring single in the top of the eighth inning to put the Rainbow Mermaids on top, 2-1. It was his only hit in 4 at-bats, but it was a game-changer.
"We played a good game and came out on top," said Bishara.
