Torch Continue Skid Thanks to Wallace, BC
|
The Put-In-Bay BC beat the Mancelona Torch, 7-4, at Put-In-Bay Ballpark. The win was largely due to the efforts of shortstop Joseph Wallace, who captured player of the game honors. He went 3 for 5 with a home run and a triple, while scoring 3 runs and driving in 3. Dennis van Putten, credited with the win, is now 2-1. He allowed 1 run on 3 hits in 2.1 innings. Adam Durango was credited with the save. He has now successfully converted 24 of 28 save opportunities.
Tom Hendrickson, who is tied for 5th in the 3A in hits with 94, helped out the Put-In-Bay cause in the bottom of the seventh inning with a run-scoring single. For the game, the second baseman went 2-3 with 2 singles and 2 walks.
"Win or lose, we pick each other up in this clubhouse," Wallace told the Put-In-Bay Gazette.
The slumping Torch have lost 7 straight.
