Caterpillars Stymie Mancelona, Take 6-1 Win
|
Grand Forks beat Mancelona on the strength of starter Juan Capmany's fine effort. The right-hander led his team to a 6-1 win. Capmany, now 6-2, was the winner. In 5.1 innings, he gave up 2 hits, while striking out 6, walking 2, and allowing no earned runs. Pancho Cazalla nailed down his 3rd save.
Grand Forks used the timely hitting of Sam McConnell to capture the win. The first baseman stroked a 2-run double in the top of the fourth inning to put the Caterpillars on top, 2-0. It was his only hit in 4 at-bats, but he made it count.
"We put it together today and came out with the win," Capmany said in postgame remarks. "That's the main thing."
Grand Forks improves to 58-26 with the win. They lead their division by 10 games.
