Silver Sox Win at Charleston, 5-2
|
With left fielder Jonathan Gunner leading the charge, the Chicago Silver Sox defeated the Charleston Battery, 5-2, at Charleston Armory. Gunner, who is tied for 2nd in the PL with a .388 on-base percentage, was 3-4 with 3 singles and a walk. He drove in 3 runs. Miguel Aguilar was the winner. Over 6 innings, he allowed 2 runs on 8 hits, with no walks and 3 strikeouts. Shang-de Fu got the save, his 25th in 26 chances.
Chicago used the timely hitting of Larry McLambroch to seize the win. The designated hitter stroked a run-scoring single in the top of the third inning to put the Silver Sox on top, 2-0. It was his only hit in 5 at-bats, but it was a game-changer.
"It feels good to get this one," McLambroch told the Chicago Observer.
Their 49-57 record puts the Silver Sox 7th in the Premier League.
