Mt. Vernon rode a fine outing from starter Lance Barber to victory over the Mancelona Torch at Ballpark of Mt. Vernon. The final score was 1-0. Mancelona has now lost 4 consecutive games.

The Torch had been locked in a 0-0 tie with the Bulls going into the bottom of the fourth inning. That changed quickly when the 24-year old shortstop John Polk came to the plate. Polk hit a run-scoring single on a 2-2 slider from Mancelona hurler Jian-gun Lin. It was Polk's 6th hit of the year.

"We put it together today and came out with the win," Barber said in postgame remarks. "That's the main thing."
