Thunder Hawks Rally to Eke Out Win
|
The Ft. Polk South Thunder Hawks beat the Virginia Palladium Sox, 5-4 at Thunder Hawks Ballpark, in part due to third baseman Miguel Pacheco, who nabbed player of the game honors. He went 2 for 4 with a home run and a walk. He drove in 3 runs and scored once. Ft. Polk South reliever António Morterero picked up the win to move to 2-1. Billy Sipple suffered the loss. With the win, the Thunder Hawks have a record of 31-28.
Late in the game, shortstop Lucas Gallant had a big at-bat for Ft. Polk South. In the bottom of the 11th, he hit a run-scoring single off Billy Sipple. The play gave the Thunder Hawks a 5-4 lead.
"We had the game right there for the taking," said Virginia manager Wynn Burton. "But we decided not to take it."
