The inspired effort of Chesapeake shortstop Kjartan Einarsson was not enough to prevent a 7-6 loss to the Ft. Polk South Thunder Hawks. Einarsson went 2 for 4 with a home run, a double, and a walk, while scoring 3 times. Kyle Overhill, who went 6.1 innings, was the winning pitcher. He was charged with 4 runs on 8 hits, while walking 1 and striking out 8. His record now stands at 5-3. Job Janssen picked up the save for Ft. Polk South, his 7th of the year.
In the top of the first, Terry Kurucz ambushed a 2-1 cutter from Shaun Stroud and hit a 2-run home run. It gave Ft. Polk South a quick 2-0 lead.
"We found a way to get it done," Kurucz said.
Ft. Polk South is now 30-26, Chesapeake 23-33.
