Evergreens Lose to Patriots, 6-1
|
The Boston Patriots went home winners at Dunkin Donuts Park, thanks in large part to starter Russ Horne. Horne silenced the Portland Evergreens, enabling Boston to grab the 6-1 win. Horne got the win, improving to 1-0. He allowed 3 hits and walked 0 over 5.1 innings. Horne allowed no earned runs. The loss drops Portland to 6-4.
Edward Sterrenburg had a big 2-run double for the Patriots in the bottom of the fourth inning. With Boston leading 2-0 and runners on 1st and 2nd, he got a fastball from Robert Smalls and stroked the double to center. It was his 5th double of the season, and more importantly, it put the Patriots ahead, 4-0.
"We'll put this win in our pocket and go after the next one," said Horne.
