Evergreens Score Late to Upend BC, 4-2
|
The Philadelphia 1776 BC got a superb performance from pitcher Masami Kogawa. Still, it wasn't enough to beat Portland. The Evergreens won the game, 4-2. In spite of the loss, Kogawa was named the player of the game. He threw 7 innings of 6-hit ball. Portland is 60-40 and Philadelphia 1776, with the loss, 40-60.
Portland needed the clutch hitting of Billy Dotson to notch the win. The third baseman hammered a 3-run home run in the top of the eighth inning to put the Evergreens on top, 4-2. For the game, Dotson had 1 home run and 1 single in 4 at-bats.
"If you pitch well, you give yourself some opportunities," said Portland manager Brandon Slouck.
