Victory Over 84s Takes Northern Virginia to 68-32
Behind a solid performance from right fielder Jesús Vargas, the Northern Virginia Rainbow Mermaids defeated the Greenville 84s, 6-2. Vargas belted 2 home runs, while adding 3 RBI and scoring twice for the Rainbow Mermaids. Yoriyoshi Sugimoto, credited with the save, is now 5 for 10 in save opportunities. The first-place Rainbow Mermaids, at 68-32, now lead their division by 8˝ games.

Northern Virginia took a 4-2 lead on Tim Stinson's 13th home run of the season. The solo home run came off Greenville pitcher Zadock Dinkelmann in the bottom of the seventh.

"I really like what we did out there today," Vargas said after the game.
