Rainbow Mermaids Come Up Short at Philadelphia 1776
|
The Philadelphia 1776 BC took Northern Virginia pitcher Eddie Kop's best shot and still were able to claim a win at Ben Franklin Memorial Coliseum. The final score had Philadelphia 1776 getting past the Rainbow Mermaids, 2-1. Kop went 7.2 innings and allowed 2 earned runs, striking out 3. Blair Wright was the winner. Over 5.1 innings, he allowed no runs on 5 hits, with 5 walks and 2 strikeouts. With the win, Philadelphia 1776 goes to 40-59, while the Rainbow Mermaids fall to 67-32.
Jesús Guzmán, who is tied for 7th in the PL in stolen bases with 26, aided the Philadelphia 1776 cause with a run-scoring ground out in the bottom of the fourth. For the game, the center fielder drove in one run.
"We'll pop the top on a cold one and get back to work tomorrow," Guzmán said.
