Chesapeake pitcher Paul Workman did his part in helping his team beat the Minnesota Loons, 2-1. The left-hander kept opposing batters in check throughout the game. Workman went 8 innings to notch the win. He scattered 8 hits, walked 4, and struck out 3. His record improves to 2-4. Mac Hippenhammer closed the door for Chesapeake, picking up his 2nd save of the year.
Jarred Williamson had a big run-scoring single for the Continentals in the top of the first inning. With Chesapeake leading 1-0 and a runner on 3rd, he got a cutter from Cristián Álvarez and stroked the single to center. It was his 19th hit of the season, and more importantly, it put the Continentals ahead, 2-0.
Afterward, Continentals manager Allen Evans was ebullient. "That was a fun game to coach," he told a group of reporters, adding, "I hope it was just as fun to watch."
Chesapeake's record now stands at 15-25, placing them 9th in the Premier AA.
