Yakima withstood an impressive performance by Mercer Island right fielder Asbel Kiprop to defeat the Screaming Eagles, 8-6, at Mercer Island Grounds. Kiprop was 3 for 4 with a triple and 2 doubles, while scoring 3 runs. Steve Barnett nailed down his 2nd save. The win puts the Hops at 9-14, while the Screaming Eagles drop to 15-8.

It could have been a different outcome for Yakima, had it not been for Pablo Pagán, the 24-year old shortstop . Pagán contributed a run-scoring walk in the top of the fourth inning to put Yakima up, 3-1.

"I don't lose sleep over a loss," said Pagán. "But I have better dreams after a win."
