Screaming Eagles Slip Past Springfield, 3-2

The Mercer Island Screaming Eagles beat the Springfield Shooters, 3-2, at Mercer Island Grounds. Mercer Island second baseman Vaughn White earned player of the game honors with an outstanding performance. He was 2 for 4 with a home run and a double, while adding 3 RBI and scoring once. The hot start continues for the defending champion Screaming Eagles, who took their 13th win in 18 games this year.
The game was still up for grabs in the bottom of the ninth. With two out, White hit a changeup from Georgy Gilyazitdinov for a run-scoring double. The Screaming Eagles, in dramatic fashion, had a walk-off win.
"We squandered some opportunities," said Springfield manager Decheng Sun.
