Screaming Eagles Continue Hot Start to Season With Win
|
Mercer Island got a first-rate effort from pitcher Diego Cartaya, who frustrated Westwood hitters en route to a 3-0 Screaming Eagles triumph at Sixshooters Stadium. Cartaya went 6.1 innings to notch the win. He scattered 3 hits, walked 4, and struck out 6. His record improves to 2-1. It was the 10th win in 15 games this year for the defending champion Screaming Eagles, who are picking up where they left off.
Mercer Island used the timely hitting of Frank Ray to seize the win. The first baseman stroked a run-scoring single in the top of the fifth inning to put the Screaming Eagles on top, 2-0. It was his only hit in 4 at-bats, but it was a game-changer.
"For the most part, I made good pitches when I needed to," said Cartaya.
