The Yakima Hops got a strong performance from pitcher Marcos Salinas, who stymied the Ft. Polk South offense en route to a 5-2 win at Hops Park. The win was credited to Bert Hollingsworth in relief. His record improves to 1-0. Ken Bates took the loss. The Hops, with just their 4th win in 15 games, have played uninspired baseball so far.
Yakima won the game in the bottom of the ninth inning. With one out and Seung-jae Hwang on the mound for Ft. Polk South, pinch hitter Yi-da Chow hit a dramatic 3-run home run, bringing Hops fans to their feet.
"We played hard and won," said Salinas. "Sometimes, baseball really is that easy.'
