Victory Pushes Fur Traders Record to 50-49
|
With center fielder Bartolo Álvarez leading the charge, the Tacoma Fur Traders defeated the Irving Blue Sox, 5-1, at Blue Sox Ballpark. Álvarez went 2-4 with a home run and a double, while adding 4 RBI and scoring once. The winner was Paddy de Klerk, who threw 99 pitches over 6.1 innings. The left-hander was charged with 1 run on 7 hits. Tacoma, now 50-49, holds 4th place in the Silver AA.
Álvarez came through with some timely hitting for Tacoma. With the score 1-0 in the top of the fifth and two down, Álvarez hit a 2-2 changeup for a 3-run home run. His 3rd home run of the season made it 4-0, Tacoma.
"It's always a heck of a lot easier to get to sleep after a win," Álvarez told the Tacoma Herald. "I know I'll rest easy tonight."
