The Irving Blue Sox beat the Tacoma Fur Traders, 9-3, at Blue Sox Ballpark. The win was largely due to the efforts of center fielder Brenton Winston, who captured player of the game honors. He went 3 for 5 with a home run and 2 singles, while scoring 2 times and driving in 3. Ramón Flores, who went 8.1 innings, was the winning pitcher. He was charged with 3 runs on 5 hits, while walking 3 and striking out 3. His record now stands at 10-6. Irving is now 45-52. Tacoma is 49-48.
Nikolai Volkoff hit a 2-run double off Kent Martin in the bottom of the first, which put the Blue Sox in front, 3-1. In addition to the double, Volkoff had 1 single, while going 2 for 5.
