Fur Traders Walk It Off for 48th Win of Season
|
The Olympia Ogres got a superb performance from pitcher Mei Zhŕo. Still, it wasn't enough to beat Tacoma. The Fur Traders won the game, 1-0. In spite of the loss, Zhŕo was named the player of the game. He threw 7 innings of shutout ball. The win was credited to José Hernández in relief. His record improves to 3-0. Philip Hynes took the loss. Their 48-46 record puts the Fur Traders 4th in the Silver AA.
The game was at a stalemate until designated hitter Sherman Hoffman came to bat in the bottom of the 11th. Facing Olympia pitcher Philip Hynes, he hit a 1-0 fastball for a run-scoring single. It was a game-changer, putting Tacoma on top, 1-0.
"This is a resilient bunch," said Tacoma manager George Sanford.
