Ogres Sneak Past Blue Sox, 4-3
|
The Olympia Ogres picked up a win at The Ogre Den, knocking off the Irving Blue Sox, 4-3. Starting pitcher Luis Varela, who captured player of the game honors, was a big reason why. Olympia reliever Luis Castro got the win, raising his record to 1-0. José Colón was tagged with the loss. The Ogres are now 17-62, while the Blue Sox fall to 37-42.
The clutch at-bat came in the bottom of the tenth inning, when Olympia designated hitter Chico Custardoi, facing José Colón, had a run-scoring sacrifice fly. It gave the Ogres the 4-3 win.
"We did enough to win," said Varela.
