The Irving Blue Sox got a good effort from starter Rich Young in defeating the Lancaster Farmers at Blue Sox Ballpark. The final score was 4-2. In 7.1 innings, Young surrendered 4 hits, while striking out 7 and walking 2. He allowed 2 runs. The losses continue to mount for Lancaster, which has now dropped 7 in a row.
A crucial at-bat came with runners on 1st and 3rd and two out in the bottom of the fifth inning. That's when first baseman Nikolai Volkoff, who is tied for 3rd in the SAA in extra base hits with 40, drew a walk. The Blue Sox went on to win.
"Win or lose, we pick each other up in this clubhouse," Young told the Irving News.
