Whales Win in Extras
|
The Virginia Beach Whales topped the Biloxi Shuckers, 7-5, in USSL Double A action at The Pizza Oven. The player of the game was Virginia Beach pitcher and Ridgefield, Connecticut native Kenny Hunt. Stan Lowe closed the game out for Virginia Beach, earning his 14th save. The Whales improved to a lofty 54-21.
Virginia Beach used a timely hit from Sergio San Martín to get the win. The second baseman delivered a run-scoring triple in the top of the tenth inning to put the Whales on top, 6-5. It was his only hit in 5 at-bats, but it was a game-changer.
"It was terrific getting this win," San Martín said. "We put in a lot of work to do it."
