Fur Traders Top Love Boats to Even Record
|
The Tacoma Fur Traders powered past the Lake Minnetonka Love Boats, 9-6, at Ballpark of Tacoma. Stanley Zijm was 3-3 with a double, 2 singles, and a walk, while scoring 2 times and driving in 2, to lead the charge. Tacoma reliever Steve Jackson was the winner. His record is now 2-1. The losing pitcher was Bernard Cook. José Hernández closed the door for Tacoma, picking up his 12th save of the year.
Tacoma grabbed control in the bottom of the seventh. With one out and the bases loaded, Elmer Kent delivered a bases-clearing double, to make it 9-6 in favor of the Fur Traders.
Kent told the Tacoma Herald: "I was born for the big stage."
Tacoma is now 33-33, while Lake Minnetonka is 41-25.
