Farmers Need Extra Frames to Get Past Whales
|
In a high-scoring game between Lancaster and Virginia Beach, catcher Jeremy Pollock was a difference-maker. The 21-year-old earned player of the game honors in the 11-8 Lancaster win. He went 4-6 with a double, 3 singles, and a walk, while scoring 2 runs. Lancaster reliever Edison Carter was the winner. His record is now 2-2. Nicolaas de Jongh took the loss. Tung-chi Ran, summoned from the bullpen, notched his 1st save.
Lancaster used the clutch hitting of John Castro to capture the win. The second baseman drilled a 2-run double in the top of the 13th inning to give the Farmers the lead, 10-8. For the game, Castro had 1 single and 2 doubles in 7 at-bats.
"Getting a lot of baserunners and getting some timely hits, it's a good combination," said Pollock.
The Farmers move to 27-35 with the win, while the Whales drop to 43-19.
