Victory Over Fighting Imps Takes Virginia Beach to 40-17
Virginia Beach and Ithaca got after it at Imps Park.

Getting a good performance from second baseman Sergio San Martín, the Virginia Beach Whales defeated the Ithaca Fighting Imps, 9-2. San Martín went 2 for 3 with 2 singles and 2 walks. He scored 2 times and drove in 2 for the Whales. Kenneth Ferrell, the winner, improved to 4-3. He held the Fighting Imps to 1 earned run on 4 hits over 6.1 innings, while striking out 2 and walking 4.

Virginia Beach needed the clutch hitting of Keith Pick to notch the win. The shortstop hammered a 3-run home run in the top of the third inning to put the Whales on top, 4-1. For the game, Pick had 1 home run and 1 single in 5 at-bats.

San Martín told a Virginia Beach Bulletin reporter that he was "more than satisfied" with the win.

The Whales improved to a lofty 40-17.
