Youth Win at Ithaca, 5-4
|
The inspired effort of Ithaca left fielder Donald McJannett was not enough to prevent a 5-4 loss to the Phoenix Hotspur Youth. McJannett went 3 for 5 with a home run and 2 singles, while scoring 2 times. Eduardo Arroyo, credited with the win, is now 3-4. He allowed 3 runs on 7 hits in 5 innings. Dan Bell closed the game out for Phoenix Hotspur, earning his 5th save.
The Youth got a clutch hit from Peer Kattenberg with one out in the top of the seventh inning. Kattenberg jumped on a first pitch fastball from Doug Schmidt and hit a single, staking his club to a 4-3 lead.
"This is a great group to be a part of, and it's a big win for us," Kattenberg told the Phoenix Hotspur Citizen.
Phoenix Hotspur, at 28-23, occupies 4th place in the Silver AA.
